Las Sesiones son una serie de seminarios experimentales anclados en la geografía, el conocimiento local,y las prácticas artísticas emergentes y condiciones políticas y sociales de Puerto Rico. La exuberante ecología tropical de laisla coexiste con devastación ambiental, mímesis institucional, deterioro, espacios post-industriales y post-militares—a la vez que con un creciente movimiento que busca entender y transformar estas condiciones. Nos interesn en especia llas manifestaciones materiales, físicas y visibles de procesos políticos abstractos, y la percepción sensorial de estas manifestaciones. A veces las Sesiones se pueden sentir como investigación de campo, otras veces como una discusión errante. Tenemos otra tarea implícita en ellos: encontrar la forma pedagógica que le corresponde.
Sessions are a series of experimental seminars anchored in the specific geography, local knowledge, emerging art practices, and social and political conditions of Puerto Rico. The island’s exuberant tropical ecology coexists with environmental devastation, institutional mimesis and decay, militarized and post-military spaces, as well as a growing movement to understand and transform these conditions. We are particularly interested in the ways in which abstract political concepts have real physical, material and social traces and in the sensorial apprehension of these manifestations. Sometimes sessions feel like field research, at other times like a wandering discussion. There is another implicit task to sessions, which is to find its own pedagogical form throughout the process.
